Travon Woodall scored a career-high 29 points and Ashton Gibbs added 25 to lead Pittsburgh to a 79-70 win over Villanova on Sunday, its fourth straight win. The Panthers (15-9, 4-7 Big East) led by as many as 18 in the second half, though the Wildcats (10-13, 3-8 Big East) were able to trim that lead to three on a pair of Jayvaughn Pinkston free throws with 22.3 seconds left.

John Shurna scored 24 points to lead Northwestern past Illinois 74-70 on Sunday. Reggie Hearn added 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting for the Wildcats (14-8, 4-6), who shot 60 percent from the floor to win back-to-back Big Ten games for the first time this season. Brandon Paul scored 22 points and Meyers Leonard had 21 for Illinois (16-7, 5-5).

After a bunch of off-target games, Marcus Denmon couldn't miss. Especially at the finish. The senior guard hit three 3-pointers in the final 2:05, the last for the go-ahead points, and No. 4 Missouri scored the game's final 11 points to rally past No. 8 Kansas 74-71 in Game 1 of what could be the schools' final border showdown Saturday night.
